Your firm is your language
HI. Jimmy Stamp here. This idea guides my work as a writer, brand strategist, and founder of ADVSCOPY.
But it also reflects what I’ve learned as a recovering architectural designer and former design writer for The Guardian, Smithsonian, The Architect’s Newspaper, and many other publications. Words shape perception, set expectation, and inform decision-making. Everything else follows from that.
Throughout my career—careers, really—I had one mission: to make architecture more accessible. Make it easy to understand. Make it clear. And make people actually care. I started ADVSCOPY in 2019 to expand that mission by writing for architects instead of about them. Since then, I’ve helped everyone from solo practitioners to multi‑billion‑dollar global AEC firms sharpen their message and share their value to win awards, attract dream clients, and grow their practice.
What’s the ADVSCOPY difference? I speak your language, but I also speak your customer’s language. I’m combining professional insight, journalistic storytelling, and strategic copywriting to make your work as clear and compelling as the spaces you design.
My approach prioritizes clarity, utility, and authenticity over beautiful prose, but, to paraphrase Buckminster Fuller:
If the solution isn’t beautiful, it isn’t right.
A little more about Jimmy:
When I’m not helping AEC pros tell their story, I’m probably writing my own. My short story “The Beekeeper’s Due” was recognized with an Eisner Award nomination in 2023, “Craftsmen,” another short about old houses and old gods, was published in Hexagon magazine, and I’m currently working on The Relics of Northmore, a comic series inspired by the early life of architect Augustus W.N. Pugin.
I studied architecture at Tulane University and Yale, and have lectured about writing and post-architecture careers at major universities and on national stages. I live in a hundred-year-old house outside Philadelphia with my wife, child, and 40,000 bees.
